U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner visited the Chapman-built Project Hope community center in Roxbury recently to announce a stimulus plan to distribute $1.5 billion in new tax credits like those that helped fund the center.
Project Hope, the first green building in Roxbury, was chosen for the announcement because it best exemplifies how these funds can help transform an inner-city neighborhood. Project Hope, built in 2006, is Silver LEED certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.
