John began working in the construction industry over twenty years ago, starting with college internships in New York and moving into commercial construction management in Massachusetts. He spent his first ten years at Chapman working in construction management as a project manager and senior project manager. John transitioned to his current role as senior sustainability manager in 2022 as we reinvigorated and expanded our sustainability efforts and announced our commitment to carbon neutrality with no offsets by 2030.

In his role, John uses his passion, knowledge, and enthusiasm for sustainability to drive our carbon neutrality journey and serves as a vital resource on our sustainable construction projects. In addition, John manages our internal sustainability group that prioritizes advancing our corporate sustainability initiatives and strategizes engagement with sustainability-focused partners.

John is extremely passionate about sustainability, building science, and community engagement both at work and in his personal life. John serves on the Energy and Sustainability Committee for his hometown of Sherborn, MA where he participated in the successful adoption of the Specialized Opt-In Building code! In addition, he is on the board of the Sherborn Yacht Club, a non-profit that promotes sailing and environmental stewardship.

When John isn’t at work, you can find him outside, biking or trail running, or spending time with his wife and three daughters (and their Great Pyrenees, three cats, and flock of chickens!)
