Newton,  MA – Chapman Construction/Design, a construction management company specializing in logistically challenging, fast-paced, and high-performance building, announced that Aaron Shwom has joined the team as its first-ever Director of Preconstruction. Shwom comes to Chapman after holding similar roles with Consigli Construction Co., Inc. and John Moriarty & Associates, and will be based in the company’s Newton headquarters.

Preconstruction services are often structured as part of a separate team, which can inadvertently create silos within an organization. Chapman has taken a different approach, with project managers and executives immersed in every job’s preconstruction phase. With Shwom on board, Chapman now has a dedicated preconstruction expert who can provide strategic oversight to the project management teams, creating consistency from concept to completion.

Shwom is also uniquely able to apply his background to the business development pipeline which helps both Chapman’s leadership and its clients rough out projects while in the conceptual stages to determine the best path to success. This approach creates value for prospective clients by determining if the proposed budget is feasible for the desired scope before going too far down the project development path. If Chapman can help building owners navigate potential pitfalls in the early stages of a planned project, it saves the client time and money due to a reduction in potential cost overruns and greater schedule consistency.
