Employee Spotlight: John Twomey

This month marks Senior Project Manager John Twomey’s 10th anniversary with the Chapman family. John began his career at Chapman straight out of college, where he studied Business Management and Marketing. Having spent his summers and school vacations working for a residential contractor, John had a passion for the industry and decided to pursue a full-time career in construction. A native of the Boston area, John learned about Chapman through word-of-mouth and landed his first post-college job with us as an assistant project manager.

When asked why he has stayed all these years, John explains, “Chapman took a shot on me without any experience, and I’ve always been grateful for that. The people I’ve worked with on projects over the past ten years have kept me here, as well as the constant learning that seems like it will always continue.” An advocate of continued education, John completed his Master’s in Construction Management at Wentworth Institute of Technology in 2012.

In his current role, John is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of his projects while mentoring younger staff. He also assists in directing our Construction Operations department, ensuring all of our projects are staffed with appropriate manpower.

John has worked on a wide variety of projects during his tenure here, and has found that the most difficult ones have helped him grow the most. He feels that being able to reflect on the success of a challenging project with his team is the most fulfilling part of the job. In John’s future, he plans to continue learning from the people around him and passing his knowledge along to newer staff members as they start their careers. In his free time, John can be found running or hiking with his wife and dog or relaxing on a dock in New Hampshire.
