On Friday June 5th, seventy-two Chapman employees headed to Rock Harbor in Orleans for our annual team-building fishing trip, the Bill Rich Memorial Challenge (BRMC). A fleet of 13 boats set sail that morning, all with high hopes of having their names engraved on the official BRMC trophy. But while the fish were plentiful that day, the keepers were not.

Kicking off construction for their new science center, the Tenacre Country Day School hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on May 15th. Students from each grade were invited to participate, breaking ground alongside Christian Elliot, The Head of School, and members of the Board of Trustees.

Thirty years ago, his vision started the company where more than 70 people proudly work today. This is how Chapman began in the words of our founder and president, John C. Hall.

Chapman was awarded the Green Pacesetter Award by the Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce at the Green Business Award Breakfast on May 6th.

Further expanding our academic portfolio, Chapman is excited to announce the award of our inaugural project with Babson College! The project team is currently engaged in preconstruction, planning the phasing and logistics to ensure that summer residents will not be disturbed during the course of the project. The project scope includes the renovation of 30 dorm rooms, and multiple common areas, kitchens, and restrooms.

Chapman recently welcomed three new full-time employees: Matt Draper, Andy DiFraia, and Nate Cote.

This spring, Chapman re-certified all of our employees in CPR, First Aid and AED, in addition to certifying 16 of our employees in OSHA-30. The class was taught by Chapman's Vice President of Field Operations and full-time Safety Officer, Eric Vogelsang, who is an OSHA Authorized Construction Trainer. These annual certifications strengthen our unwavering commitment to safety and ensure a safely run jobsite for our employees, subcontractors, and clients.

Congratulations to the following employees for receiving their OSHA-30 certification!

Chapman recently hosted three students from Wentworth's Construction Management program for a full-day professional job shadow. Although the students might've expected to spend the day at a desk, we devised a program that would keep them moving and engaged, starting with a tour of our LEED-CI Platinum office and followed by one-on-one meetings with a wide array of our staff members.

Chapman has always encouraged growth from within, which is why we are so pleased to announce the following promotions:

Eric Vogelsang, Vice President, 22 years
Rich Elliott, Senior Vice President, 20 years
Tom Hansen, General Superintendent, 15 years
Ben Tucker, Senior Vice President, 5.5 years

photo of the Cross Point cafeChapman's recent renovation of the 13,000 sf café at Lowell's Cross Point Towers included one deceptively tricky element: bringing extensive daylight and views to the concrete-walled first-floor space. Our team's first step in this mission was to open the building's façade by cutting and removing 20 eight-foot precast concrete panels. Next, they installed a new grade beam to span the 100' Kawneer Trifab glass storefront system.
