When nonprofit health organization Element Care sought to expand their operations into Lowell, they found the perfect home in a 19th century High Victorian Gothic building at 166 Central Street that had not been fully utilized in more than thirty years. A year prior, it had been purchased by vascular surgeon and longtime Lowell resident Arthur "Chip" Gonsalves.

Chapman has always promoted growth from within, which is why we are excited to announce the following promotions:

Andy Loomis, Project Manager, 6 Years

Andrew DiFraia, Assistant Project Manager, 1 Year

Nathan Russell, Project Manager, 2 Years

On Friday September 25th, Needham's Temple Beth Shalom broke ground on their year-long Mikdash Building Project. Rabbi Jay Perlman opened the thirty-minute ceremony by describing the history of the project. He then introduced Temple President Ed Zaval to thank and acknowledge the Board of Trustees, their past presidents, the Mikdash Development Team, the Mikdash Building Team, the Temple's Staff Members, their Community Partners, and their professional partners for guiding them on their journey.

The end of hot & humid weather can only mean one thing: it’s back-to-school time. Over the summer, Chapman completed these projects for local educational institutions, just in time to start the new academic year.

This month marks Senior Project Manager John Twomey's 10th anniversary with the Chapman family. John began his career at Chapman straight out of college, where he studied Business Management and Marketing. Having spent his summers and school vacations working for a residential contractor, John had a passion for the industry and decided to pursue a full-time career in construction.

Chapman recently completed a renovation of the historic lobby at One Winthrop Square in downtown Boston. The owner, DivcoWest Real Estate, selected Dyer Brown as the Architect with a goal of modernizing the lobby while keeping the original historic elements and design intent. This was achieved through the reuse and restoration of period details combined with modern materials reminiscent of historic Boston architecture.

Brian Iammartino and Ryan Gorman founded btcRE to redevelop and revitalize underutilized real estate assets outside of Boston's central business districts. The first building the partners purchased was 35-37 Medford Street, a 40,000 sf Somerville brick and beam structure in desperate need of repair. Together with Chapman and ARC Architects, they transformed this property into a thriving office space for maturing start-ups and creative-economy tenants.

Chapman recently completed a 6,600 sf state-of-the-art wellness and fitness club for the Whittier Street Health Center in Roxbury. The project included a cardio center, free weight area, and locker rooms, as well as group fitness and yoga studios. Whittier undertook this project to support their goal of fighting disease and improving life expectancy among urban residents. As part of a new approach to wellness, Whittier's doctors are now prescribing exercise as part of their patients' daily routines.
